When a group of dedicated professionals banded together almost 40 years ago, they could not have envisioned they were launching a company that would become one of the leading injectable product suppliers in the country. From its beginnings in 1967 as American Quinine, American Regent has grown into a major force as a supplier of quality parenteral products.

The name American Quinine served the small company in its early years. Then, as the operation’s scope expanded, the company was acquired by Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, Inc., in the mid-1980s, and the decision was made to change the name to a simpler and more sophisticated appellation, American Regent Laboratories, Inc., to reflect its expanded capabilities. It was shortened to American Regent, Inc., in 2002.

From the beginning, American Regent was committed to working with the healthcare community to be the injectable company of choice. A commitment to customer service has always been a top priority—and a real person, not a voice-mail system, always answers the phone.

In 1996, American Regent began distributing Dexferrum^® (iron dextran injection, USP). At the same time, another IV iron product was being readied for manufacture and sale in the United States—Venofer^® (iron sucrose injection, USP). In addition to its person-to-person customer service, American Regent serves as a value-added resource by offering continuous support in the field, through its highly trained sales force and clinical support specialists, a professional speakers bureau, and ongoing professional education in end-stage renal disease.

American Regent, Inc., started modestly but has continued to grow steadily, collaborate in a successful partnership with the healthcare community, and become an injectable company of choice for hospitals, pharmacies, and clinics across the United States and Canada.
